Director LEE Jong-baek of YU Press and Publication Center won grand prize in 2nd Korea Publishing Editor Award on November 23. Korea Publishing Editor Award was established and has been given by Korean Publishing Foundation starting in 2022 to highly evaluate the contributions in editorial planners who are actually leading the publishing culture and at the same time to inspire pride in publishing editors.
Director LEE Jong-baek is the planning editor of YU Publishing Division, has published over 600 types of academic books and liberal arts books in the fields of humanities, society, nature, and the arts for 34 years, has been leading publishing and editing books related to Korean studies and humanities and excellent writings in each field, and was recognized for his contribution in development of academic publishing.Representative projects include <History of Korean Cultural Thought> (4 volumes), <Compendium of Korea, China, and Japan> (6 volumes), and the complete collection of <Toegye Poetry Interpretation>, which interprets all 2,000 poems written by Toegye LEE Hwang in Korean ( 9 volumes), <Translation of Zhuxi Poetry> complete works (5 volumes), <Humanities Promotion Series> (33 volumes), <National Culture Research Series and Data Series> (30 volumes), and <Regional Culture Series>.
Director LEE sets an example by actively working to cultivate publishing professionals through education participating in editing and production for local students wishing to enter publishing industry, and creative content contests support of publication for young people in their 20s and 30s.In addition, he has been making contributions in improvement of reading culture and in expansion of readers by providing reading programs, book design exhibitions, and special lectures in the region and has been actively making actions as a planning editor by presenting subjects as a Korean representative in international seminars in research activities and by promoting Korean history and culture in foreign countries through Korea-Japan exchanges of books and publication of local cultural contents in foreign languages.
Director LEE Jong-baek received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2013 and a commendation from the Prime Minister in commemoration of the 36th Book Day in 2022 and is leading activation of regional publication and expansion of publication culture as the evaluation member of Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, as an advisory committee member of The Association of Korean University Presses, and a s director of Korean Regional Publishing Association.
